Nestled amidst the picturesque landscape of Richmond Hill, Ontario, lies a hidden gem waiting to be discovered: Oakview Terrace. Tucked away at 13256 Leslie St, Oakview Terrace features a heart-shaped lake formed by two lobes, symbolizing eternal love. The scenery is breathtaking year-round, making it one of the most beautiful outdoor venues. Spanning 28 acres, the estate includes a central reception hall, chapel, gardens, and outdoor areas suitable for large events.
It was a sun-drenched beautiful afternoon in May when I was invited to Oakview Terrace for a tea party hosted by RSPA, a luxious beauty and skin care salon, as a VIP client appreciation event.
As I entered the venue, I was greeted by the warm hospitality of Oakview Terrace's staff and the charming ambiance of the surroundings. Tables adorned with elegant linens and floral arrangements set the stage for an exquisite tea service, complete with a selection of fine teas and delectable treats.
But the highlight of the afternoon wasn't just the culinary delights—it was the chance to unleash your inner artist. Guests were encouraged to pick up a paintbrush and canvas to recreate the captivating original artwork of two choices: a sideview of a lady wearing a straw hat or a field of beautiful yellow tulips. Stunned by the side profile of the elegant lady as well as not impressed by repeating the occurence of the tulips, I decisively chose to paint the lady!
With brushes in hand and canvases awaiting their touch, guests embarked on a journey of artistic expression, each stroke bringing us closer to our chosen masterpiece. As laughter mingled with the gentle rustle of paintbrushes, Oakview Terrace became a haven of creativity and camaraderie, where individuals discovered the joy of bringing art to life in our own unique way. Despite being replicas of the original artwork, we infused the paintings with our own personal touches.I opted for a brighter shade of yellow for the hat and a deeper blue for the dress, creating a sharper contrast compared to the original piece. To add a touch of warmth, I painted the skin with a soft, pale pink hue. As for the background, I chose a light blue tone to enhance the contrast further and tie in with my attire for the day—matching perfectly with my dress, sandals, and earrings. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed painting, and it made me realize that even though I'd always been a STEM girl, I might have got a hidden talent for art as well, haha!
As the tea party wound down, the air was filled with joyful laughter of guests and exchange of contact, ensuring that newfound connections would continue beyond the event. Amidst the picturesque surroundings and the creative energy of the painting activity, guests had not only created art but also forged lasting memories and meaningful connections. Oakview Terrace isn't merely a venue—it's a haven where joy resonates, friendships flourish, and unforgettable experiences unfurl.
